What Happens When You Arrive at Detox?

You may have spent days thinking about treatment, or the decision may have happened after another difficult night. Even when you know you need help, walking through the door can feel uncertain. You may wonder what people will ask, how you will feel, or whether you are ready to stay.

You do not need to arrive feeling confident about everything. The first step is an opportunity to explain what has been happening and begin understanding what care you need.

At Salterra OC Detox & Treatment in Dana Point, the admission process begins with getting to know the person entering treatment.

A Conversation About Your Needs

Every admission begins with an individualized assessment. We review your recent alcohol or drug use, withdrawal history, current medications, physical health, mental health concerns, and previous treatment experiences.

This conversation helps us determine whether our subacute residential detox program is an appropriate setting for your care. If your needs require a higher level of medical care, we coordinate an appropriate referral or transfer.

You can also ask questions. You may be concerned about withdrawal, being away from home, or what treatment will involve. Sharing those concerns helps us understand what matters to you as you begin.

Settling Into the House

A new environment can feel unfamiliar, especially when you are already exhausted or overwhelmed. Having a sense of where you will sleep, where you can rest, and who to approach with questions can make the transition more manageable.

Salterra provides alcohol and drug detox in Orange County within a private, six-bed residential setting. Our shared living spaces, bedrooms, and outdoor seating areas offer a comfortable environment where clients can begin focusing on treatment.

You do not have to explain your entire life on the first day. The assessment begins the conversation, and treatment provides time to explore more as stabilization progresses.

Individualized Care During Detox

Your care reflects your substance-use history, withdrawal symptoms, overall health, and individual needs.

Salterra provides 24/7 staff care and ongoing observation, with coordination with the medical provider for provider-directed medication management. Letting staff know about changes in how you feel helps the team communicate your needs and respond appropriately.

Every client with opioid addiction receives a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) evaluation as part of care. Medication is prescribed by the medical provider according to individual clinical needs.

Looking Beyond the First Day

You may arrive focused on getting through withdrawal. Questions about relationships, work, or continued treatment may feel difficult to consider all at once.

As stabilization progresses, treatment can begin addressing the circumstances surrounding substance use, including emotional concerns, recurring patterns, and barriers to recovery.

Clients who need continued treatment may transition into Salterra’s residential addiction treatment program in the same familiar setting. Continued care includes individualized therapy, group therapy, a 12-Step focus, and relapse prevention.

Starting With a Conversation

You do not need to know exactly what treatment should look like before calling. Our admissions team can discuss your situation, answer questions about the program, and explain the steps before admission.

Salterra OC Detox & Treatment offers licensed alcohol and drug detox and residential addiction treatment for adults in Dana Point, Orange County, California. Same-day admission may be available following assessment and subject to bed availability. Out-of-network insurance benefits can be verified before admission.
